Beauty is also known as pulcrum. It is a transcendental perfection, which results from esse or the act of being. There are different degrees of being, the vegetative life (plants), the sentient life (animals) and the rational life (human persons); beauty’s variety and richness depends on the different degrees of being.

Beauty has different levels depending on the subject from which it transcends; intelligible beauty directly is attached to the spiritual life and the sense perceptible beauty is applied to things, which attracts our sense, especially our hearing and seeing.

There are different types too, natural beauty which comes from the nature of beings, therefore we can say a woman is beautiful naturally in her femininity and rationality; and artificially when she starts further enhancing her beauty through make-up, dressing and exercise, and a painting is artificially beautiful in so far as it is painted artificially by human hands.

The Unity Of Beauty And Goodness

A special type of goodness is beauty because it gives rise to a special delight by simply being known. The sensible appetite comes into play when it feels the aesthetic appreciation and delight. It is the contemplation of the beauty of the object not on its possession. Beauty is pleasing to the will or sense appetites simply by being known by the senses or the intellect.

The Foundation Of Beauty Lies In Perfection

The foundation of beauty lies in the perfection of the desired object; things are pleasing because they are beautiful. Therefore whether or not there are men or women who are capable of appreciating a beauty, the perfection still resides in the object and thus beautiful. This perfection is from the act of being, the fullness, and absolute Beauty.

Perfecting Beauty In Its Fullest Sense

The foundation of beauty is the absolute. Beauty, the act of being, and we can say things are beautiful in so far as they already possess perfection. However this is not the only aspect of beauty. A created being can only reach the fullness of the beauty if it possesses the perfection of its very nature. An example of this is a woman can only be truly beautiful in her being a woman, in her finest feminine nature.

There are three basic features of beauty:

There should be harmony and proportion in the object and subject itself and to its surroundings. The combination of clothes must be in accordance with the occasion and personality type. To further enhance one’s perfection, she is properly made up not excessively but appropriately, she is pleasing to the sight and thus we can say the person is attractive. Integrity and completeness of the object is another element to consider in its substantial and accidental form. A beautiful thing is considered when it is complete up to the last detail. The beauty of the Mozart Cantata is an example of a work of beauty of integrity and completeness.

Another element is clarity, both in the material and the spiritual. In case of systematic knowledge, clarity is seen in its intelligibility, truth and being. In case of the sense of hearing, the arrangement of the melody that makes the music pleasant. In the case of sight, light, limpidity and brightness are taken into consideration; a painting is characterized by clarity if there is light, limpidity, and brightness.

If you haven’t given any real thought to herbs and the effects that they play in hair growth, you most definitely should do so. One of the major reasons people fall behind in regrowing hair is due to a lack of the right nutrients. The right nutrients can turn a sad hair loss condition into one that you can truly be proud of.

Herbs have been around since the beginning of time and many tribes and cultures in different lands still use them today for various medicinal uses. They can aid in stimulating hair growth for you too.

As an example you should note what saw palmetto can do to treat male pattern baldness. Male baldness is often times the result of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone, which gets started from excess testosterone in the male body.

Taking saw palmetto everyday has been studied for a while now and it is linked to being able to stop the formation of dihydrotestosterone. Is it a total cure for baldness that men suffer? That’s something that is too early to decide, but it is well worth your time.

Even an herb common as green tea has hair-stimulating effects for both men and women. You don’t even have to drink green tea as a beverage to get the full benefits from it. You can also take green tea capsules. Green tea works in a way similar to saw palmetto, however it contains catechins which help boost hair growth too. It’s safe for men and women and you can readily get your hands on this anywhere vitamins and herbs are found.

I’m sure you are aware of all the hype surrounding resveratrol and weight loss, but is there any truth to it? Discover the facts here.

Recent research shows that resveratrol can help you lose weight, though perhaps not the spectacular amounts being claimed by some companies. Let’s see how it helps.

Firstly, it has been shown to be an appetite suppressor due to its antioxidant qualities. This helps you to avoid binging and consume less food naturally which means less calories. Using a natural way to suppress your appetite can really help as part of your diet.

Secondly, resveratrol for weight loss is good because it can speed up your metabolism to burn off more fats. If combined with other natural nutrients like green tea (which is also a good fat burner), you will get even more benefits as they combine synergistically.

Lastly, supplements containing resveratrol has been shown to increase your energy levels. This will have the knock-on effect of helping you to be more active and positive and so naturally burn off more fat.

So while resveratrol and weight loss are connected, it helps in subtle ways and should be used in a nutritional supplement containing many other nutrients. This way you can benefit from increased absorption and many other health rewards without taking a high dose.

Some companies advertise resveratrol supplements with as much as 500 or 1000mg a day which is not proven to be any more beneficial than a smaller dose.

If you look for the most potent type – trans resveratrol and 20mg a day in a supplement blended with other nutrients encapsulated in an enteric coating, then you will get more benefits and help with losing weight than the much higher doses.

For example, many of the pills available do not have an enteric coating which means much of the goodness is lost to the stomach acid. These special coatings are expensive for the manufacturer but essential to boost your health.

It is also worth remembering that this powerful natural nutrient can help with many other health conditions like preventing cancer and balancing your good and bad cholesterol levels as well as helping you to potentially avoid neurological conditions like Alzheimer’s.

It is also important to realize that more than 80% of people who go on a diet, after initially losing weight, end up putting back on more than they originally lost! So it also takes sensible eating, exercise and some will power to lose weight and keep it off!

I hope I have shown you that resveratrol and weight loss are connected and can help as part of a proper diet but to also expect many other important health benefits too.

I have heard of many people who claim to have solved their cystic acne problems through diet, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for everyone. There is some ambiguity on what a “good diet” consists of. For example, some diets are not too keen on grain and carbohydrate based foods while most nutritionists recommend a grain based diet. Also there are lots of books on diet and foods, and there are some differences in opinion.

Interestingly, many studies had been performed on the diet and cystic acne relationship, and none was found. Also, a sickness or disease caused by malnutrition or poor diet tends to linger on until the poor diet is rectified. For example, if you had a low iron intake, you would continue to feel tired and run down until your iron intake increased. Cystic acne (in most cases) disappears in the mid-twenties even though sufferers have made no change in their diet. Now, if cystic acne is a disease caused by poor diet, why should it suddenly disappear?

One thing I would object strongly to, is the idea that cystic acne is a symptom of western diet.  In fact, those of us who have travelled may have noticed that traditional Asian and African diets are no better for their culture than western diets, at least in terms of the incidence of cystic acne amongst their people. There may well be strong evidence to suggest that western diets are not actually very good for us – but there really is no evidence that it can either cause or worsen cystic acne.

I am not seeking to totally discredit the claim that diet has a part to play in cystic acne but still there are lots of other factors that can trigger this skin condition like hormones, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress and much more.

Some people have claimed that dairy products, for example, make their skin break out. I don’t know of any studies that have proven this, but even if this is true for you at your age, it’s unlikely to be the cause of his severe, typical adolescent cystic acne. Even though it seems to live on grease, it’s not likely to significantly affect your skin (unless you get the grease all over his face and doesn’t wash it off).

Is it possible to control oil?  Or is it the clogging of the pores that we’re attempting to control?
Don’t use harsh treatments to attempt to control oil – you stimulate the glands to produce even more oil afterwards and it becomes a vicious circle. Clogged pores are full of dead skin cells as well as oil, which give bacteria on the surface of the skin a great meal, leading to inflamed pimples. You want to gently clean the skin (if it’s not one of those medicated bars – you may also want to try a non-drying cleanser) with a mild compound. Using a soft washcloth (no scrubbing) will help gently remove loose dead skin cells so that there’s less to fall into the pores and clog them. There’s no need to wash more than twice a day. Your next step is to fight the skin bacteria with an appropriate medication. A dermatologist may recommend Accutane, but it is strong stuff and should be considered for severe cystic acne that doesn’t respond to any other measures.

Does after-shave irritate the cystic acne problem?
Well, after shave contains alcohol, which is not only drying (something to be avoided if you are using any other kind of topical or oral medication) but can irritate inflamed pimples. Shaving is said to be a good, mild exfoliate (gets rid of dead skin cells) but it may also irritate or cut inflamed pimples.
